State Referee Program Announces Youth Camp Schedules
The Metro DC-Virginia State Referee Program is pleased to announce plans for two Youth Referee Development Camps for the summer.

The first camp is a non-residential day camp to be held July 6-8, 2004, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia.  The camp will be held in conjunction with the EHS Sports Camps that use the high school's outstanding athletic facilities on the 130-acre campus of Episcopal High School.  This camp is intended for the new youth referee with three years or less of experience who is interested in building confidence, improving officiating skills, and perhaps attending the week-long resident Youth Referee Academy in the future.  Morning sessions will consist of classroom and on-field instruction.  Afternoon sessions will involve working in referee crews on scrimmage games.  Stress-free feedback will be offered.  This is a day camp with no housing arrangements.  Lunch will be provided.  The cost of this camp is $80.00 per participant.

Our other camp is a residential camp that will be held at the University of Richmond on July 11-15, 2004.  This referee camp is designed for the youth referee, age 14 or older, with two years or more of officiating experience to include assignments as a center referee for 20 or more matches and having worked some games at the travel level.  The camp fee of $175.00 includes room and board, referee instruction and training with experienced referee instructors and sessions with National Referees, field work and physical fitness, a special fun event one evening, and an awards ceremony at the end of camp.

To apply for either camp, you must complete an application form and submit it to the State Office no later than May 31, 2004.  For a copy of the application form, click here.
