2008 VYSA Workshop

This year’s VYSA Workshop will be held on Friday, February 1 and Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Virginia.  Mark your calendars and plan to attend.  Visit www.vysa.com for information about registration and all session topics and events. 

 

Referee sessions will be the following: 

 

Session 1:  “World Cup Germany 2006” presented by Greg Barkey, FIFA Assistant Referee.  A look behind the scenes of what it takes to survive the preparation, selection and participation in a World Cup.  Travel with Greg along his journey to officiating in Germany. 

 

Session 2:  “Angles/Spaces...The Real Game” presented by Bill Dittmar, National Referee in the MLS. What a referee needs to look at during the game - positioning, tactics, player movement, ball movement, etc. 

 

Session 3:  “The New/Old Academies...Moving Up the Ranks” presented by Andy Chapin, National Referee in the MLS and Jim Conlee, National Referee.  If you want to get on track to upgrade and become a National Referee, then this session is for you.  Discussions will focus on how to be professional and provide proper pre-game, an evaluation of the "new" academies and tips on how to get prepared to move up to the National level. 

 

Session 4:  “Handling...Hands On” conducted by Greg Barkey, FIFA Assistant Referee.  Proper interpretation of handling from the youth to international level.  Film clips will help clear up any misunderstandings. Great session for all levels of referees and coaches.
